Do I need a prescription for Scout? Will my contact lens prescription for another brand work?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you'll need a contacts prescription specifically for Scout to place an order. Because contact lenses are a medical device, and different brands have different features and measurements, the brand of lenses you order must be prescribed by your optometrist. We offer two ways to get a Scout prescription if you don't have one already:

Book an eye exam at one of our stores to meet with an optometrist
Download our Virtual Vision Test app on your iPhone to renew your current prescription and get evaluated for a Scout-specific prescription. Using Virtual Vision Test costs $15 and takes less than 10 minutes, including a few quick questions to find out if you're eligible.

Can I wear Scout if I have an astigmatism?

Accepted Answer

Scout isn't currently offered for those with an astigmatism. If you see CYL or AXIS values on your prescription, you have an astigmatism and need toric lenses. We can fill the following prescriptions with Scout lenses:

Single-vision lenses for distance correction (no toric or multifocal lenses)
Spherical correction between -10.00 and +4.00.

How does the flat pack design keep contact lenses protected?

Our Scout flat pack safely secures each lens inside a blister (the well in which lenses are stored) without compromising lens quality. Bonus: The flat pack presents your contacts the right way up, reducing the need to touch the inner lens surface during insertion—all while using 80% less packaging than traditional contacts and 70% less saline solution.
